Who Is This Blogger and What Does He Do
Since this blog is just starting out, I am trying to stick to the 21 Surefire Tips for a Successful Blog Launch which I believe any blogger should read and follow. The first rule is..
Connect with your readers through an about page and welcome message.
I set up my about me page yesterday and was surprised to see the results.
Of all of my visitors yesterday, a whopping 10.15% visited my About Us page. I was really not expecting such a large percentage to visit that page. Not only did people click on the About Us page, but they stayed there an average of almost 3 minutes and had a 0% bounce rate. Fantastic.
What I am trying to get across is that it is vitally important that you connect with your readers on a personal level. This holds true for all aspects of marketing (online and off). When you send out mailing letters, you make them personal by using the persons name. When you are copy writing, you make references to you and not all of you. When you are making a business deal or are having a meeting, you ask about their personal life and try to get on more informal terms with them before you break out the business talk. You have to pretend that you are speaking to your best friend, who is sitting there and looking at you.
When your blogging, try to keep the text a Friend to Friend chat and not a Teacher to Student lecture. Make the posts as interactive as possible (links to other sites, polls) and stick a picture of yourself somewhere on the site.
