My Notes: That is disgusting. Two out of every three people in America will be fat when they are older., and the rate isn’t decreasing. I guarantee this will soon be a stereotype of Americans.
Armed America
Americans have 90 guns for every 100 citizens. India has the second largest citizen to gun ratio with a close 4 guns per 100 citizens.
America purchases 4.5 million guns every year out of the approximate 8 million produced worldwide.
My Notes: I’m sure if we look at the locations of the guns in the urban vs rural perspective, 80% of the guns will be in the rural areas. But considering India is the second closest with a 95% decrease, what does that tell you about American feelings of security?
Literacy
25% of U.S. adults who did not read any books in the past year. The average person said they read 4.
Americans claimed they had started reading 5 books per year. In 1999, the average was 10.
My Notes: We are getting dumber by the year. I think it should be a law for people to read X amount of books per year.
There are some other numbers but these are the ones that stand out the most.
